Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Vibes LLC ("wispen", "we", "us" or "our") handles information in connection with the wispen.ai desktop application for macOS and the website at wispen.ai (together, the "Service").

In short

wispen is built to keep your voice on your Mac. Your speech is transcribed locally, on your own device, by a speech model that runs on your Mac. We do not operate a server that receives your audio, we do not have user accounts, and we do not sell your data or track you. The only information stored is a short, local history of your dictations that stays on your computer.

The rest of this policy explains the details.

1. Who we are

The Service is provided by Vibes LLC, registered in the State of Wyoming, USA, with its address at 30 N Gould Str, Suite R, Sheridan, WY, 82801. For any privacy question, contact us at support@wispen.ai.

2. How wispen handles your voice

When you hold the dictation key, wispen records audio from your microphone and transcribes it into text using a speech-recognition model that runs on your Mac. The audio is processed locally and is not transmitted to us or to any third party for transcription. We operate no server that receives your speech, and the recognized text is placed directly into the app you are using.

In other words, your dictation does not pass through our systems. We never see the audio you record or the text it becomes.

3. Information stored on your device

To let you copy a recent dictation again, wispen keeps a short history of your transcribed text locally on your Mac (in the app's Application Support folder). This history:

never leaves your device and is never uploaded to us;
is automatically cleared after a short retention period (approximately one hour);
can be viewed, copied, deleted or cleared by you at any time in the app's settings.

If you delete the app, this local data is removed along with it.

4. Permissions wispen uses

Microphone — used only while you hold the dictation key, to capture the speech you want transcribed. Audio is processed locally and not stored beyond what is needed to produce the text.
Accessibility — used to detect the dictation key and to paste the recognized text into your active app.

Both permissions operate entirely on your device. You can revoke them at any time in macOS System Settings.

5. The one time wispen connects to the internet

The first time you run wispen, it downloads the speech-recognition model from its provider (the WhisperKit model host) so that recognition can then run offline on your Mac. This is software being downloaded to your device — your audio and your transcribed text are not sent anywhere as part of this. After the model is downloaded and cached, wispen does not need the internet to transcribe.

6. What we do not collect

We want to be explicit. wispen does not:

require an account or ask for your name, email, phone number or similar personal details;
send your audio or transcribed text to us or to any third party;
include analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or third-party trackers in the app;
sell, rent or share your data for advertising or any other purpose.

7. The website

The wispen.ai website is where you learn about and download the app. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically process limited technical information (such as IP address and basic request logs) for security, to deliver files and to keep the site running. We do not use this to identify you personally. If we ever add website analytics or cookies, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent.

8. Your rights

Because wispen processes your speech locally and we hold essentially no personal data about you, there is little for us to access, correct or delete on our side. Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of personal data, and to object to it. To exercise any such right, or to ask a question about your data, contact us at support@wispen.ai and we will respond as required by applicable law. You can also remove all local data yourself at any time by clearing your history in the app or uninstalling it.

9. Children

wispen is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Because the app does not collect personal data in the first place, no special children's data is gathered through normal use.

10. Where your data is

Because transcription and history happen on your Mac, your dictation data stays wherever your computer is. Vibes LLC is based in the United States; any limited website-related processing by our hosting providers may occur in the countries where they operate.

11. Security

No system is perfectly secure, but keeping processing on your device by design means there is very little data in transit or held by us to protect. On your side, your dictation history is protected by your Mac's own user account and disk security.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and change the effective date above. If we make a material change — for example, if a future feature involves sending any data off your device — we will make that clear before the change takes effect.
